International Participant Guidelines
About the KOSEN Symposium
The KOSEN Symposium is an annual academic event organized by the KOSEN Symposium Council, providing a platform for students, faculty, and researchers affiliated with KOSEN to present their work and exchange ideas.
Since its first symposium in 1995 at Kurume KOSEN, it has grown into a nationwide event with nearly 30 years of history.
The symposium promotes interdisciplinary collaboration across science, engineering, and technology fields, and welcomes international participants to join either in person or online.
Date and Time
Saturday, January 24, 2026
- Symposium: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Japan Standard Time)
- Award Ceremony & Networking Event: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (JST)
Venue
- Venue 1: Amagasaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (3-96 Showadori, Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture)
- Venue 2: Amagasaki City Arts Center (2-7-16 Showadori, Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture)
Online presentations will be conducted simultaneously via Microsoft Teams.
Participation Options
International participants may choose to present online via Microsoft Teams or attend in person in Japan.
Details such as the program, presentation schedule, and access instructions will be sent after payment confirmation.

Presentation Categories
Presentation awards will be given to the top four student presenters in each category (oral and poster).
Awards include:
- Toyohashi University of Technology President's Award
- Nagaoka University of Technology President's Award
- National Institute of Technology Board of Directors Chair's Award
- KOSEN Symposium Council President's Award
(1) Award-Eligible Presentations (Oral and Poster)
Only student presenters are eligible to apply for awards.
Applicants must select the “presentation award entry” option during submission.
Preliminary screening will be conducted based on the submitted abstract. Results will be notified individually via email.
- If accepted for award consideration:
- Oral presenters may choose in-person or online format.
- Poster presenters must present in-person.
- If not accepted:
- Presenters will be reassigned to general categories.
- No additional registration is required. The original abstract will be used as-is.
Presentation Formats:
- Oral: 10 min presentation + 4 min Q&A + 1 min transition
- Poster: Display by 12:30 PM; Core time: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
(2) General Presentations (Oral and Poster)
Oral Presentations:
- Presenters may choose in-person or online format.
- Format: 7 min presentation + 2 min Q&A + 1 min transition
Poster Presentations:
- Must be presented in-person.
- Posters must be displayed by 12:30 PM.
- Core time: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM Detailed instructions will be sent to scheduled presenters.

(1) Creating Abstracts
All presenters must use the designated template:
- Award-eligible presentations: 2-page template
- General presentations: 1-page template

Registration and Payment
(1) Participation Registration
Register between Nov. 7 – Dec. 12, 2025 at:

As a special arrangement, participants joining the 31st conference online from overseas are exempt from paying the registration fee. After completing registration, online participants from overseas will receive access to the event program, presentation schedule, and instructions for both in-person and online participation.

Participants joining the 31st conference online from overseas are exempt from paying the registration fee under a special arrangement.
Award Ceremony & Networking Event
Date & Time: Saturday, January 24, 2026, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Venue: Amagasaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Fee: Faculty/General 4,000 Yen, Students 3,500 Yen
Participants attending the conference in person are requested to pay the registration fee at the venue on the day of the event.
